Dear IHEA Members,
As I enter my second year as President of the IHEA, I recognize the challenges you face as health educators. With challenges come new opportunities. The last two years have changed health educator in ways we could have never imagined. We created innovative ways to educate healthcare learners despite limited access to healthcare settings.
It is important that we build upon that innovation and continue to change health education for the better. Although we were not able to hold our annual conferences in 2020 and 2021. this year, we are looking forward to offering a summer workshop that focuses on best practices for clinical education. Planning is underway for the return of the IHEA Conference in June of June 2023.
We are working to ensure that IHEA is the voice for all health educators in Iowa. I am excited to announce two new member positions on the IHEA Board of Directors.
• Clinical practice affiliate member - Represent the interest of practice setting health educators. For more information go to: https://iowahealthed.org/board-members
• Members at large - Serve as the voice for health educators without assuming the roles and responsibilities of a voting board member. For more information go to: https://iowahealthed.org/non-voting-board-members
As health educators we have risen to the challenge. I am confident that we can navigate any new disruptions that come our way. Do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
